Do You Agree ?

Throughout this unit, you have probably considered two important questions regarding the Holocaust: How was the Holocaust possible? and Why did the Holocaust happen?  How would you answer these questions?  Another important question to consider is Why is it important to study the Holocaust?  What argument would you make for the importance of studying the Holocaust?  Why? (Echoes and Reflections)

The Holocaust was possible because Hitler made everyone believe him for what he said and made everyone believe that the Jewish people were bad because he just didn't like the Jewish and any other people that Hitler thought wasn't pure blood. The Holocaust happened because Hitler wanted a Aryan race he just wanted people that had blonde hair and blue eyes but that really didn't matter if you fitted his pure blood race you were ok and he wasn't going to do anything to you.He just wanted to get rid of people who were different that is why he targeted Jewish people and Homosexuals and Gypsies because he wanted his ¨world” to be perfect. My argument is why did Hitler want to do this and why did he kill so many people.  Because there's a reason why our teachers teach us about the Holocaust because we don't want this to happen again.  Even though you may think that this won't happen again and that this was only a one time event in history, it can happen again.

  1. I don't think "everyone" believed that the Jewish people were bad. Hitler was an evil person with a sick mind. People gave Hitler the power to kill the Jewish people. There were some Nazi soldiers who did not believe that Jewish people were bad, but had to "follow orders" or they would be killed. I heard that Hitler himself was part Jewish if one followed his bloodline. He betrayed his people, himself, and the human race. Hitler never made the world perfect, but worse. Hitler was cornered and the coward killed himself before being caught alive. Yes, it is important to study the Holocaust, because history can repeat itself. We must stand united, be educated, and know our rights to prevent this from ever occurring again.

  2. I agree with boleagad because the main reason that the Holocaust was possible was because Hitler made everyone believe that the Jews were terrible people and that they didn't deserve rights. The reason that this happened was because Hitler didn't like Jews. I believe that Hitler was jealous because the Jews had nice things.Hitler didn't like people who were different that's why he would kill homosexuals and Gypsies. He wanted to have the perfect race of people which were Germans, but he thought that people with blonde hair and blue eyes were even better. It is important to learn about the holocaust so that something like it won't happen again.

  3. You do have some correct points. A great term that is often used for "made everyone believe" is "rhetoric." The term rhetoric refers to the use of words for influential purposes. As you can see from Hitler, he used rhetoric to influence people in a very negative way to carry out his idea of a perfect world. The use of rhetoric by persons in a position of power is still used today. North Korean leadership utilizes rhetoric daily to convince its people that North Korea is the most powerful country in the world. Many African leaders will used fear based rhetoric to keep its people from rising up and creating a civil war.

  4. I agree because when Hitler rose to power he distributed his ideology book called Mein Kampf Which showed his views about the Jewish people that almost made them look inhuman. He also showed these same ideas about gypsies and homosexuals. His main purpose to not liking these people was because he believed in a "master race". He called this race was known as Aryans and they would consist of blonde and blue eyed men and women with everyone as the same height. At the time, this was almost impractical but with his rise to power he took on the title of Fuhrer. This means leader in German and is the equivalent of a dictator. With this power he ordered the creation of this race but fortunately, the war ended soon after it began. The reason this effected the Jews, gypsies and homosexuals however, was not because of their looks. It was because of Hitler's description of them in Mein Kampf.
